We love a fashion collaboration here on the Style Forecaster
blog, but sometimes our favourite labels can’t resist dipping into lifestyle
design as well. Band of Outsiders has just announced a collaboration with
Starbucks: a washable and reusable coffee cup which looks as if it has paint (or
just very gloopy coffee, maybe?) dripping down from around the rim.

It’s a limited edition version of the cup, the fifth in
Starbucks’ chain of designer collaborations in a bid to make their brand a bit
cooler. They’ve already teamed up with Jonathan Adler in 2010, Rodarte in 2012,
Charlotte Ronson in early 2013 and Stacey Bendet from Alice + Olivia in late
2013. So does this mean that Starbucks is making the designer collaborations a
more frequent offering, and will we see another label re-design the cup later
this year?

Reusable coffee cups have become more and more popular ever
since Urban Outfitters started stocking them a few years ago. Their floral
versions gave way to branded options at Starbucks (which save you 25p on every
drink when you reuse it) and a simple, Vogue-branded one that was sold at
events sponsored by the magazine.

At London’s Vogue Fashion Festival earlier this year, they
were one of the hottest items in the pop-up gift shop. Perfect for anyone who
likes to claim they have “more issues than Vogue.” So we’re sure this Band Of
Outsiders take on the trend will appeal to the fashion-forward, regardless of
whether or not they actually drink coffee. Is there any more stylish way to
carry a drink around? Which high-fashion take on the coffee cup is your favourite?
