• Wearable Art: Anne Sofie Madsen

The collection of Anne Sofie Madsen really struck a chord with me, her designs are visually bewitching pieces art, that I’m sure you will be just infatuated with as I am.

Anne Sofie Madsen was born and raised in Denmark. The talented designer graduated in 2009 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The designer has been destined to share her own fashion visions, especially after working with some of the most prestigious names in the industry like John Galliano who she trained with at Dior, as well as Alexander Mcqueen whom she worked for at the niche label as a junior designer. Madsen also worked for trend Forecaster company Peclers.

By 2010 Anne Sofie Madsen debuted her first couture inspired collection at London Fashion Week. The themes for Madsen’s collections are ever changing but the visions for her garment constructions are always consistent. The ideology behind much of Madsen’s work is to show the well-known through the un-known using traditional hand crafting methods entwined with couture techniques to produce conceptualized high end fashion.

What I love about this designer is she explores different silhouette forms within her design as well as using a variety of materials within one piece which dramatizes the depth and visual aesthetics of  her clothes. From leather to mesh and even print on silk on wool. Madsen takes fashion design into innovative 3D sculpted realms. The pieces Madsen produces have an underlying theme of contrasting materials with the mix of tough and fragile, this all helps in channeling a distinctive and unique collection.

Sirens of Chrome is the latest collection of Anne Sofie Madsen, the A/W 13 collection is an eclectic range of futuristic and dynamic warrior like designs. The collection has been produced with a good variety of materials and bold distinctive shapes that are ridged and in asymmetric forms. There is a piece for all whether you like minimal basics, fur or more of an intricate print, these statement making pieces will give you an avant-garde style aesthetic like not many designers can.
